Pray for local, district, and national church leaders.
See You at the Altar (SYATA) is a day set aside for parents, grandparents and other adults to pray for students at the beginning of the school year. The National Women's Department sponsors SYATA as an accompanying event to See You at the Pole (SYATP), a student prayer gathering held each year on the fourth Wednesday of September. SYATP, which began with a handful of teens from Burleson, Texas, in 1990, drew more than 2.5 million students from all 50 states and several countries in 2008.
To participate in See you at the Altar, ask the pastor if the church building can be opened for parents, grandparents, and other interested adults to come to the church's altars to pray for students and the coming school year.
Parents are encouraged to take pictures of their children and place them on the altars. On the back of the picture they may share the name of the student and the school they attend. This will enable those praying to direct their prayers.
A See You at the Altar Bookmark is available from the National Women's Department. It contains thirty-one virtues to pray for your kids, with Scripture references.
The See You at the Altar Bookmark is available through Gospel Publishing House. Call 1-800-641-4310 or visit www.gospelpublishing.com and ask for Item # 735021. Spanish prayer cards are available as well; ask for Item #735062.
