AG Women understand that women have received a charge from God to stand strong and be faithful, courageous under fire, humble, and prayerful. We announce the 2020 theme as Entrusted with Treasure.
The theme verse is: “Guard, through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, the treasure which has been entrusted to you” (2 Timothy 1:14, NASB).
National AG Women’s Day is Sunday, February 23, 2020, for Assemblies of God churches across the nation and worldwide to celebrate the women of their congregation. The theme study for the year is Trustworthy: A Study of the Life and Character of Daniel, written by Kay Burnett, national director, AG Women. Burnett’s desire in writing this book is that it will be used as a tool to help women recognize and appreciate the lessons Daniel’s life can teach.
Have you ever experienced a situation where you had to make a choice to keep quiet or take a stand you knew God wanted you to take? That’s exactly the situation Daniel (of the Old Testament) found himself in. In spite of all that Daniel saw in his lifetime—he remained faithful to the God who revealed mysteries and shut the mouth of lions.
Maybe it was Daniel’s life and character that caused the apostle Paul to write to Timothy later and encourage him to “guard . . . the treasure which has been entrusted to you.” Women today can take Paul’s message to heart, learn from Daniel, and guard the treasure of the gospel.
The 2020 National AG Women’s Day service gives an opportunity for every church to honor its women and encourage them to expand the ministries they currently share. Churches may wish to recognize women for their varied and valuable contributions to the ministries of the entire church.
National AG Women’s Day also allows each congregation to give an offering to support the AG Women national office. These offerings help continue the ministries provided to women in each district of the nation and around the world. Offerings can be sent any time during the year.
Information for planning a National AG Women’s Day service will be mailed in October 2019 to every Assemblies of God church, included in the resource magazine titled, Ministering to Women in 2020. Additional resources for the theme can be found a women.ag.org.
AG Women exists to help equip churches to effectively minister to women. The department provides strategies, training, and resources for district directors and local congregational leaders to create intentional, effective ministry to women. As women in Assemblies of God churches become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ, they will discover greater joy and fulfillment, creating healthier relationships, families, churches and communities.
