As you look ahead to ministering to women in your church and community in 2019, this would be a great time to look at your ministry goals. What do you want to achieve in the short term? What do you want to set as long-term goals?
Pull your ministry team together for an annual planning session, to map out what you want to accomplish next year in ministering to women. Perhaps you could schedule a day, or half-day, in a retreat-like setting, where you can take time to pray as a team before setting goals. Seek the Lord for the goals He would have you set for women in 2019.
Then start planning!
If you are just starting to organize ministry to women in your church, we would recommend the Quick Guide for Ministry to Women. It includes several appendixes that will help you plan, including a Strategic Plan Template, that would take your team possibly several different days, or even several weeks of meeting together weekly, to walk through.
In walking through the Strategic Plan, your team will consider vision, resources, your team members, and goals. You’ll ask questions such as: What steps will we take to fulfill our vision? What should we do differently? What should we stop doing? When should we start? And more.
The Quick Guide also includes a “Planning Ministry to Women” questionnaire that we are including free as a downloadable here. By walking through this questionnaire as a leadership team, you will be able to plan big events, small groups, and one-on-one connections for the women you are leading.
Conclude your planning time together as a leadership team by making the following commitments found in the Strategic Plan Template:
In order to fulfill this plan, the individuals on our team must:
Rely on God’s wisdom—committed to our Father’s business, surrendered to the leading of the Holy Spirit in every area of our lives and ministry.
Commit to personal growth—with an overwhelming desire to become more like Christ in every area of our lives.
Act with compassion—mindful of women who need Christ and those who need to grow closer to Him.
Live in unity—cooperative with our pastor and leadership team, with a desire to make significant contributions to fulfilling the vision of our church.
Work with integrity—functioning as a team with a clear focus and measurable objectives.
Strive for excellence—utilizing our individual God-given strengths and fulfilling our individual callings.
Close in a time of prayer and seeking God to lead your team in reaching women throughout 2019.
